What is Trauma-Focused Therapy?

Trauma-focused therapy is a therapeutic approach that aims to help individuals process and heal from past traumatic experiences. This type of therapy acknowledges the impact that trauma can have on a person's mental, emotional, and physical well-being. In my practice, I use evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-based therapies and Attachment Therapy to help individuals heal and work towards a brighter future. Trauma-focused therapy provides a safe space for individuals to explore their trauma, address its effects on their life, and develop healthy coping strategies. By working through the painful memories and emotions associated with trauma in a structured and supportive manner, individuals can gradually decrease their distress and move towards a path of healing and recovery.

What is EMDR?

If you or a loved one are struggling with the lingering effects of trauma, EMDR offers a promising path towards healing and recovery. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a research-backed therapy proven to effectively treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). By integrating bilateral stimulation such as eye movements, taps, or sounds with therapeutic protocols, EMDR helps individuals reprocess distressing memories and alleviate associated symptoms.

Proven Effectiveness: Studies have shown that EMDR is a highly effective therapy for processing and overcoming traumatic experiences. EMDR is recognized by organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Psychiatric Association as an effective treatment for trauma-related disorders.

  • Efficient Healing: EMDR targets unprocessed memories, leading to decreased symptoms and improved mental health in a shorter period.

    • In a 2017 study, 77% of combat veterans with PTSD were found to no longer have the diagnosis after just 12 sessions of EMDR.

    • Research shows that 84-90% of individuals no longer meet the criteria for PTSD after just three 90-minute EMDR sessions.

  • Gentle Yet Powerful: Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR allows you to work through past traumas without extensive verbal processing, making it a gentle yet potent method for healing.

Statistics that Speak Volumes

  • Over 30 randomized controlled trials have demonstrated the effectiveness of EMDR in treating trauma symptoms.

  • Approximately 84%-90% of single-trauma victims no longer have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after only three 90-minute sessions of EMDR.

  • EMDR has been endorsed by organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association and the World Health Organization for its efficacy in trauma treatment.
